How durable is a metal roof?
The average lifespan of an asphalt and shingle roof is around 17 years. A metal roof can last up to 3 times that. A metal roof can be the last roof that you will ever have to have installed on your home.
Metal roofs can withstand high winds according to UL 580 and UL 2218 Class IV, which is the highest rating on Hail and Impact resistance. They resist mold, mildew and other types of fungus. Metal roofs are very maintenance free, they will not rust, crack or rot.
Asphalt and shingles, as soon as exposed to elements, starts to deteriorate. A metal roof will not deteriorate and can handle most any weather thrown at it.
